SIMA Classroom was born out of a conviction to bring global education to the next generation of changemakers through the power of visual storytelling.
With access to the best global social-issue documentaries from our annual Social Impact Media Awards (SIMA), SIMA Classroom was a natural progression of our mission, allowing us to provide educators with the tools to inspire global perspective building and nurture the values of peace, respect and cross-cultural understanding.
Since launching SIMA Classroom in January 2016, we provided 102 academic institutions with 3-year access; serving 1,496 classrooms and 36,878 students. Their overwhelmingly positive feedback continues to validate our model and underlines our sense of urgency to scale access to SIMA Classroom as an antidote to prejudice and a mending-force to our current socio-political climate. SIMA Classroom’s stories of hope, resilience and creativity celebrate the power and beauty of diversity, of personal engagement, and our common humanity, all while helping students to utilize their creativity in solving and addressing real-world social issues in their own communities.
For 2017, we have an additional 261 schools on our waitlist (140,000 students), including 170 international institutions in 32 countries that are hoping for sponsored access. We are starting a quarterly Global Educators Salon to advance the abilities of teachers in utilizing our platform and began translations of SIMA Classroom into both Spanish and Arabic to service more schools in the Middle East, Latin America, and Europe. Given the staggering refugee crisis and the need for adequate teaching platforms that enable inclusive global education, SIMA Classroom is bridging an imperative gap in cross-cultural communication that is unprecedented to this day.
We hope for your support in this endeavor and are beyond grateful for your investment in education that builds a better world.
We could not do this work without you.
